Kelvin Grove Primary School

A primary and nursery school for children aged 3-11, with an autistic unit and children´s centre. Aiming for excellence in the education and development of children from the Forest Hill and Sydenham areas.

I welcome you and your child to our school. We are delighted that you have chosen Kelvin Grove and look forward to working in partnership with you.

Kelvin Grove is a large, three form entry community primary school with a nursery, a resource base for autism and an attached children’s centre. The school has expanded considerably over the last five years and the site has grown. We believe that the education we can offer all children is of a very high quality. We are ambitious for greater success and can promise further change as we strive to meet the demands of education in the twenty-first century, developing young people who will be lifelong learners.

Achievement has risen in all areas in recent years, a testament to my very dedicated teaching force and team of gifted senior managers.

The school has an outstanding reputation for music and sport. Our talented children perform at a wide range of musical events in school and in the local area and have received generous praise. In sport, we compete in a range of competitions locally and offer a considerable number of sports clubs before and after school, some provided by partner organisations. Parents are kept well informed of the opportunities available to all children.

We pride ourselves on our communication with parents and carers but we can always improve. We want you to build strong relationships with your child’s teacher and teaching assistant and there will be meetings to start that process very early in the school year. Your feedback is always welcomed and frequently sought. We want you to be very active partners in your child’s education. We recognise that many of you will have to fit this around your working day and we endeavour to make that as simple and as convenient as possible. We offer wraparound care from 7.45am to 6.00pm and accessible and flexible systems to allow you to manage the daily demands of modern life. I am very proud of our excellent administration team, who will always go out of their way to assist you.

We hope that this brochure answers many of your questions about the school. BUT please also visit our website regularly, which is constantly updated and contains extra detail.

We pride ourselves on being open and friendly, so do not hesitate to ask us if you need to know more.
